Service Description
The Thames sailing barge Bread & Roses is an 81ft long Thames Sailing Barge made from wood at Cann's yard in Harwich in 1981. Below deck is cosy, warm, spacious and with a stunning oak table perfect for hosting our popular Afternoon Tea. Embark on a journey of relaxation and indulgence, that combines the serenity of the river with the warmth of our hospitality! Please read below - How to get below deck Once on board you will be required to step down a ladder which will take you below deck for your Afternoon Tea. Any concertns, please get in touch. Menu: Afternoon Tea consists of 3 decadent finger sandwiches per person including home roasted ham and mustard, classic cream cheese and cucumber and our popular egg and cress. Fruit scones are made daily and can be enjoyed with Tiptree jam and lashings of clotted cream. To finish slices of homemade cakes and bakes to fully temp your tastebuds! Collaborating with Gemma, formally of the Olive Room in Brightlingsea; the food will be freshly prepared ready for the trip each day. Specific dietary requests can be catered for. A minimum of 4 is required to make the booking go ahead, but if you are booking for less than this, please get in touch as we may be able to combine another booking. A maximum of 16 can be catered for, or 18 if you know each other well! You can park in the car park in front of the barge, or there is a 3 hour maximum car park opposite the Curve Wave park. The usual time of the cream teas is 12.30 to 2.00pm, but if you require earlier or later, please contact us first.

An image of the ladder you will have to use to get below deck is shown on the booking page. Fruit scones and cheese scones are made daily and can be enjoyed with Tiptree jam and lashings of clotted cream. To finish slices of homemade cakes and bakes to fully temp your tastebuds! Collaborating with the Gemma previously of The Olive Room in Brightlingsea; the food will be freshly prepared ready for the trip each day. Please include any dietary requests in the booking. A minimum of 4 is required for the booking to go ahead, so if you are booking for less, then please contact us first and we will try to group bookings together to meet the minimum. We can accommodate a maximum of 16, or 18 if you know each other well! If you need to cancel, a minimum of 48 hours notice is required, otherwise full payment will still be charged.
