About the event

Charles Bran's experience as an artist is broad. Lino cutting was a natural progression from his work in the printing industry. He worked on the NME newspaper (New Musical Express) in the 1970's when it became the best selling British music paper. At that time, it was closely associated with Punk music. Charles has anecdotes about rubbing shoulders with rock icons that make the hands on experience of making paper alongside him very memorable! That said, there is never any hint of name dropping - in fact, Charles has his feet firmly rooted in the ground.


So much so, that ground roots are literally integral to his work. Perfecting how to make paper from plants has involved experimentation and a deep connection with the natural resources gathered.
