Flaunt the flaws and learn how to extend the life of woolly wardrobe favourites using Visible Mending. Then, create a Sashiko patch to use for repairing a hole or strengthening a garment that has worn thin. Basic hand sewing skills and patience are all you need!

About the event
We are delighted to host the second in a series of Winter Wellbeing Workshops aboard Thames Sailing Barge May. Below deck and sat snuggly around our beautiful table, you will be able to relax and enjoy the meditative process of Visible Mending. You can expect practical, hands on instruction in a relaxed environment. Step by step, you will be able to develop repair skills that will enable you to mend and extend the use of clothes and breathe new life into tired garments you may otherwise dispose of. Repairing not renewing.
Both Visible Mending (which is darning) and Sashiko (hand stitched geometric designs) are highly decorative ways to make your wardrobe more sustainable. Basic sewing skills are required - in fact if you think you can't sew, or you were put off by a previous (often school) experience, these repair techniques are a perfect way to build your confidence. …
